Project History

Project Charity: AMX got it's start in late 1999 on the AMC-List mailing list after several discussions about what the car hobby can do to benefit different charities. Within a few days of deciding to move forward with this, Tom Benvie graciously donated a 1970 AMX and asked that the proceeds go to children's charities (one of Tom's daughters spent a lot of time in Boston's Children's Hospital when she was younger). This was agreed to and the project moved forward. Once complete, the car will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Boston's Childrens Hospital, St. Judes Childrens Hospital, and Shriner's childrens hospital organization.

So far, the AMX has been in the following places:

  • West Newbury, MA
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Grayson, GA,
  • San Antonio, TX
  • Racine, WI
  • Auburn Hills, MI
  • Boston, MA
