[Editors note: This is from Richard Dietzel, the author's husband]

A bit more information on the book, "A Wish for Wings and Other Things" being sold in support of the Charity AMX, my wife wrote the book in response to her experience with my chronic illnesses. The entire story came from a dream she had, the next morning she wrote it and in two weeks had the art work done. After editing it was published. It has won two awards.

Our intention always was to use the book as a fundraiser for health related charities. It has been sold by hospitals, a Cancer Center, three national health groups and several smaller ones. Charity AMX made perfect sense to us both.

The illustrations are figurative cast paper, Sara's primary medium. Sara carves an image in wood or rigid foam, grinds acid free paper into pulp, dyes the pulp then casts each color into the various parts of the mold. She often adds materials such as glass, wood or metal.

Below are quotes about the book and snippets from Sara's resume.

"A Wish For Wings and Other Things : a magical tale for everyone of every age ever touched by illness."

The book is about healing not curing, about helping to make things better about a brief escape not denial.

One little girl enlists the help of her dreams to create a magical gift of wings for a friend who is ill. Together, they lift and take a ride, even though they are inside.

"We all know stories wherein a maiden must spin straw into gold - an impossible task. Through words and pictures, Sara Glater does something perhaps more difficult - she spins sorrow into beauty. What's more, she teaches us how to do the same. A Story simple enough to be admired for it's beautiful, cast paper illustrations, rhyme, and well - told tale, it answers a most bewildering question: What to do when someone you love is sick?"
-Joel ben-Izzy, Traveling Story Teller

"Sara has translated her personal experience insight, sensitivity and creativity into a positive, wonderfully uplifting message."
-Martin Brotman, MD, President, California Pacific Medical Center.

"Wings... a child of the heart, divinely beautiful and childishly honest."
- Don Paul, San Francisco Review of books
